Property Development 2008

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that the proposal for the planned major property development of Drury School is now available for review and comment by parents.

The proposal has been developed after detailed discussions with the management team, to provide the following facilities:

· Priority A – a series of dedicated meeting rooms for use in the delivery of our Remedial Reading and Maths programmes and our Gifted and Talented Extended programmes.  These meeting rooms will also be available for improved confidential parent teacher meetings.  Meeting rooms are planned in each of the junior, middle and senior school areas.

· Priority B – completion and extension of the School Hall complex.  This will include:

Completion of changing facilities either side of the stage area.

A storage room for sports and hall equipment

A dedicated uniform shop and storage area

A specialist arts and culture centre

· Priority C – An extension to the toilet block between rooms 14 and 15 to double the available facilities

· Priority D – a new Computer suite, adjacent to the new library facility.  This will provide computer facilities for approx 30 students, i.e. one computer for each pupil in a class, for improved hands on learning by all pupils during computer studies.  The computers will also be linked to our library resources.  This will also include a new modular junior playground adjacent to the pool area, to replace the existing junior playground.

Following a tender process, a Project Manager has been appointed for the overall development.  Conceptual plans have now been prepared and agreed by the Board.  These are on display in the foyer of the School Admin Block or can be viewed online on the Schools website www.drury.school.nz .  Any comments parents have in relation to the proposed development should be forwarded to Mrs Wilmshurst at the School Office, be sent by email to office@drury.school.nz by Friday 4 April 2008 or entered in a comments book that will be made available in the School Admin Block. The Board expects to finalise the proposed development at its April Board meeting in preparation for completing drawings, consenting and tendering the works.
